Ana Laura Lozza & Bárbara Hang are a performing artist duo based in Berlin, Buenos Aires and Hamburg. They develop their work in choreography and dance and move transversely among education, dramaturgy, curating and writing. They were born in Argentina on the same day, same month, same year and almost in the same place -Bárbara's mother left Ana Laura's hometown just before giving birth. They met twenty five years later studying and performing together and decided to become sisters-in-arts. Their projects can take different forms such as dance works, choreographies with objects, choreographies of words, films or actions that propose a participatory dynamic with the audience. Since 2010 they run the platform Acá No Hay Delivery as a space for exchange, research and creation of collaborative work.
They conceive their artistic practice as a possibility to imagine and move towards new forms of common existence. Their interest revolves around the poetics and ethics of common actions, communication, the singular, loss, remainders and new beginnings. Through the activation and actualization of affects, questions and desires they inquire into the material and immaterial dimensions of the body in the encounter with others. Movement, language, scores, everyday objects, film, audio or simple actions become means to critically address the relations established in any performance situation. Whether working in the theater space or outside of it, they intend to reconsider its conventions -spatial arrangements, patterns of attention and political implications of each specific gathering. They insist on the fundamental poetic and political urgency of a choreographic practice that always starts from the body as a complex material (individual, collective, human or more). In this way, their works can reveal anywhere from a rigorous physical and gestural austerity to a baroque chaos built by ordinary objects. These precarious arrangements hold within them the power to destabilize fixed structures of value and meaning. Behind all their projects lies the recurring question of how to do things together. A question that extends to other bodies, to the more-than human world, tuning into the fragile, the uncertain and the unexpected of coming into relation.
